  • The FDA authorized two COVID-19 vaccines: the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.

  • If you have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines, please download the V-Safe app on your smartphones to monitor your response to the vaccine.

  • The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine shall be administered at 21 days interval. The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine shall be administered at one month or 28 days interval.

Kalkaal Maternity Care is a non-profit organization working at the grassroots level to improve health outcomes for rural population in some of the hardest to reach communities in Somalia.

Our strength lies within the skills, knowledge, and the experiences of its members. A group of health and business professionals (all women) founded and managing Kalkaal Maternity Care: together, the core management team has combined over 120 years of business leadership, healthcare, and community service experience in the United States and Somalia.

The organization has a functioning board of directors and executive management team. The Board of Directors oversee ensuring the overall operations of the organization and are fulfilled as planned. The Board also tasked with general financial oversight, efficient and effective use of human and material resources. The management members constitute the governing authority for all key organizational decisions, including general policy, planning and implementing strategies, and fundraising.

To reduce and prevent those unnecessary losses of mothers and children, KMC referral health centers are providing skilled care at childbirth, postnatal for mothers, and baby care for small and sick children. We follow WHO guidelines, ensuring that the mother and baby stay in the health center 24 hours after child both.

Our Main Objectives:

  • Establish maternal and health care referral health center
  • Make pregnacy safer and expand reproductive health
  • Reduce morbidity and mortality among children
  • Increase access to fistula prevention and treatment services
  • Promote community health education about Female Genital Mutations(FGM), Family Planning, Sexual
  • Transmitted Diseases (STD) and HIV
  • Provide transportation and communication system for rural areas

Our Measurable Objectives

KMC Referral Health Centers (RHC) will have skilled birth attendings, such as doctors and nurses, to offer quality health care for the towns of Awrbogays and Widhwidh and its surrounding areas, resulting in a 50% reduction of morbidity and mortality rate among women and children by December 31, 2024.

KMC RHC will introduce Integrated Management of Childhood Illness to reduce childhood illness by 50% by December 31, 2024.

KMC RHC will have trained health professionals to offer quality primary health services for the community of Awrbogays and Widhwidh and its near villages and nomads. It will result in the reduction of death of chronic and communicable illness by 50% by December 31, 2024.
